Come And Meet Each Other is a place to meet for housebound and elderly people. We meet every Tuesday, except during August, from 10.00 am - 2.30 pm. Our aim is to provide an interesting and enjoyable day out for folk who would otherwise be spending the day at home, probably on their own. Lunch is provided and after that we retire to the comfort of the coffee lounge for different activities. After more tea and a biscuit, the members start to leave around 2.00 pm.
Friendly Food meets each Wednesday during term-time at 12.30 pm to provide a hot meal and a dessert, followed by a cup of tea or coffee. There are toys to play with for the pre-school children while Carers chat and a quiet room for our older members to eat in. The Carers take turns to help with the washing up.
The Church Bookstall is open at (almost) every service and there is a Bookcase in which books are on display all week. Our aim is to help people (adults and children) in their various needs such as:- enquiring about the Christian faith; growing in faith; personal devotions; sharing faith; coping with difficulties; help for leaders of church activities; etc.
We also have a free lending library of books and tapes which is available at all times.
Occasional trips to the theatre are organised to (e.g.) the Royal Exchange and Library theatres in Manchester and to local dramatic socities such as Chads, Stockport Garrick, etc.
For those who like the outdoor life, we arrange about 10 rambles a year. We normally meet in the church car park at 10.30am on a Saturday, and then set off for a 5-6 mile ramble. All walks are graded easy or moderate and the pace is leisurely.
All are welcome to join us on any of the following rambles. Just bring a packed lunch and some stout footwear:
No rambles currently planned
For 11-14 Year Olds, every second and fourth Tuesday evening from 7.30 - 9.00.
