Directions from the M60 (Manchester Orbital Motorway)

This is the best way if you are approaching the Manchester area from the North (via the M6 & M61), from the North or East (via the M62 from Yorkshire), from the East (Sheffield & M67) or from the West (M62 Liverpool).

Exit the M60 at Junction 3 (signed A34 Wilmslow and Congleton)

The slip road brings you out onto the A34.

Keep in the left hand lane and turn left at the traffic lights (after about 150 metres).

After about 600 metres you will come into Cheadle village.

Turn right at the traffic lights (you will have the White Hart pub and St Mary's church to your left at this junction).

You are now on Wilmslow Road.

Stay on this road for about 1.5 miles. You will pass the Village Hotel on your left (after about half a mile) and Cheadle Marple College on your right after another half a mile. The road is now called Cheadle Road.

You will pass St Andrews Church and the John Barras/Kenilworth pub on your right.

After a further 400 metres you will come to a set of traffic lights where you turn left. This is Albert Road.

Keep over to the right because you are turning right at the next traffic lights. You will see the sign for Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre in front of you at the junction.

Turn right at these lights. You are now on Station Road. Follow the road down under the pair of bridges at the station and up the hill on the other side. As the road flattens out you will see Tesco Express and Blockbuster video on the right hand side and then the John Millington pub and Daisies flower shop on the left.

Just beyond Daisies is the church. Turn left into Ramillies Avenue and then immediately left into the church car park.

From the West (M56)

Follow the M56 signs for Stockport which lead you onto the M60. (Beware the M56 signs for Manchester and the M60. They will lead you astray!)

Once you join the M60, prepare to come off at the next junction, Junction 2, signposted Stockport A560).

Follow the slip road to the roundabout at the end.

(There is an alternative route at this point - see "Possibly Easier"below)

Turn right at the roundabout (fourth exit) on the A560 into Cheadle. Get in the right hand lane at the traffic lights to go straight over. At the next lights (with the Wagon and Horses pub on the left) be in the left hand lane, and go straight over the lights, down Cheadle High Street. Go over the pelican crossing, and turn left at the lights onto Wilmslow Road.

Then follow the directions from "You are now on Wilmslow Road" as from the M60 as above.

Alternative Route - Possibly easier:
After leaving the M60, Go round the roundabout and rejoin the M60 heading in the other direction. Stay in the left hand lane because you are coming off at the next slip road (Junction 3, A34 Wilmslow and Congleton) which is only 800 metres.

Then you can follow the directions from the M60 as above.

From the South and East (via Hazel Grove)

If approaching from the south or east (and not via the M60 or the M6), aim for Hazel Grove. At Hazel Grove, the A6 (from Buxton) and the A523 (from Macclesfield) come together.

Drive through Hazel Grove on the A6 (London Road) following signs for Stockport and Manchester. There are several sets of traffic lights. Take care because it is a narrow road.

After about a mile, as you leave Hazel Grove, you come to a set of traffic lights where you will see a large Sainsbury's store on the right hand side. Turn left at these lights (by a ghastly green painted pub). You are on Bramhall Moor Lane.

You will pass Stepping Hill Hospital Maternity block (about 6 storeys) on the right before going over two railway bridges.

Follow this road down to a roundabout where you turn right (2nd exit) onto Bridge Lane.

The road drops down the hill. You pass the Brookdale Club on the right and immediately come to a large roundabout.

Take the first main exit (ignore the bus lay-by and the left turn immediately after the pedestrian crossing) BUT be in the right hand lane because you turn right 20 metres after the pedestrian crossing.

You have turned on to Carrwood Road. Follow this road for about 1 mile. It changes its name to Manor Road and you will pass Bramhall Park Golf Club on your left. At the mini roundabout keep straight on. You are now on Station Road.

Go through the pedestrian lights and take the second turn on the right (about 70 metres after the lights). This is Ramillies Avenue. Turn immediately left into the church car park.

From the South and West (via Wilmslow)

You need to be on the A34 North from Wilmslow. This is a dual carriageway road that will take you past the Handforth Dean shopping centre (Tesco and M & S) on your left.

Having just passed the shopping centre, you will come to a roundabout with a road going over the top on a flyover. Keep straight on.

There is another roundabout after about 200 metres where you should turn right. This road is Stanley Road.

After 100 metres there is a mini roundabout at which you need to turn left. There is a parade of shops to your right once you have turned. You are now on Gill Bent Road.

After 900 metres, you come to another mini roundabout. There is a Co-op shop to your left. Take the 2nd exit here onto Church Road.

You will pass Cheadle Hulme High School on your right and a BP garage and then All Saints church on your left before you come to (yet another) mini roundabout. You will have the Church Inn to your left.

Turn left onto Ravenoak Park Road. Climb up over the railway bridge and drop down to the final mini roundabout. Turn left onto Station Road.

Go through the pedestrian lights and take the second turn on the right (about 70 metres after the lights). This is Ramillies Avenue. Turn immediately left into the church car park.
